It was a great morning as always at home in my parents place. Anyway I love going for visit because anytime I go, I do not always come back the same, a lot of goodies have to follow me back to my base... I think it's just the way parent love to shower their children with gift.

Well that's not the topic of discussion this morning, I want to share with us my activities with dad in his farm. If you follow me closely you would have read in the last diary I wrote talking about preparing our farm land for farming. We eventually planted the cassava and trust me it's thriving... Let me not jump the gun, we would get there.

So that morning, I took a short walk around the garden in the compound to check how our plants are faring. We have quite a number of plant in our garden which includes yam, coconut tree, scent leaves, bitter leaves, ginger etc.

In fact just two days ago, dad had to check how mature the yam has become and then dug out one out of one of the heaps, I was amazed at what he brought out from the surface level. Quite a moderate sized tuber of yam, what if it was the main yam in the depth of the earth. Mehn! We are in for a bounty harvest by next month.

Shortly after going back and forth the garden, we were set to go to the farm which was about a kilometers or two away from home. We had our Cutlass and boot for safety. We weren't actually going there to do the obvious work of weeding around the plant but to check how it faring and then fix a time we would have the weeding done.

I guess Dad just wanted to show me the progress of what we came to work on over a month ago and trust me, I was so glad seeing the progress so far on getting there. The cassava had started growing at least one can visibly see it distinguished from the obvious weed around it competing with it for nutrients.

The next line of action like I've mentioned before is to weed around it so that the cassava can breath and not chocked. Weeding it would definitely make it grow faster and look healthier. The work would have been easier with sprayer but we would be shooting ourselves in the leg if we try such and that's because the cassava plant and the weed are on the same level which would make it difficult to separate.

We looked round the farm to examine it properly and to ensure that all is well. I also ceased the opportunity to examine the farm of the neighbor beside us who had just harvested his cassava and have replanted against next year. He also planted tomatoes on the same heap with the cassava with the hope that the tomatoes will mature before the cassava begins to chock it.

I think it's a good land management and maximization, if one can kill two stones with one bird, why not give it a shot...smiles. we didn't stay very long on the farm, we only csme to check the progress so far and to plan our next line of action, all of which we achieved.

We headed back home after the whole exercise and had enough rest because we had to trek to and fro...lols. A journey we have become used to anyways. Maybe someday we would become mobile and enjoy movement with ease but before then, our legediz benz still remains our consolation.

I think I need to drop my pen here, not because am running out of ink but because am done...lols. I hope you enjoyed the ride down here. Thanks for staying with me. Gracias!
