➡️What's would you cultivate if given a large expanse of land? |
---|
Bangladesh is an agricultural country. The land of this country is very fertile for agricultural work. Almost all of our ancestors were involved in agricultural work. It is not possible to be directly involved with it. But the pull towards agriculture remains in my blood. From that tension, interest in agricultural work is sometimes created.
Today if I am offered a huge plot of land for farming, I will gladly accept it and leave everything else. I will focus on agriculture. The agriculture that I will find happy in large areas is wheat cultivation.
Our land is quite suitable for wheat cultivation. My firm belief is that if I cultivate wheat in a large area and follow the specific rules of wheat cultivation, success will come inshallah.
➡️Why did you choose that particular plant/crop? |
---|
I have chosen wheat for agriculture. The main reasons are:
Wheat is a nutritious food as well as our daily staple food. Bread, biscuits, pasta, noodles, semolina, and cakes are made from wheat. It is a high-protein food. It is in huge demand all over the world. No one is found who has faced losses by cultivating wheat. Wheat cultivation is relatively easy.
On the one hand, it can meet your own needs. Besides, you can make a lot of profit by selling it in the country's market.
The nutritional value of wheat is incomparable, it contains carbohydrates which are the main source of energy, besides it contains elements like protein, fiber, vitamin B, iron, magnesium, and selenium.
Considering these things, in addition to one's own financial gain, supplying nutritious food to the people of the country is also a part of national service. After thinking about everything, I decided to grow wheat in a large area.
➡️How long will it take to mature and harvest? |
---|
It usually takes 90-120 days to grow wheat. However, this time limit can vary due to various reasons. It depends on the type of wheat and the climate and growing conditions. For example: -
- Spring wheat takes 90-110 days to mature. It is planted in spring and harvested in late summer.
- Winter wheat grows slowly so it takes more time. It takes 120-150 days to ripen the wheat of this season.
- At high altitudes, the yield of wheat is early. Again, the yield is a little late during winter.
➡️What are the common pest and disease of that plant/crop. Also share how to control it. |
---|
If you want to cultivate mer, naturally there can be pest infestation. But don't be afraid at that time. Diseases should be diagnosed and treated. The diseases that we see during wheat cultivation are:-
- Aphids are small soft-bodied insects that suck plant sap, inhibiting crop growth.
- Wheat stem borer – This is a type of larva that penetrates the stem of the plant weakens the plant and causes the plant to break.
- Armyworm is a caterpillar that feeds on the leaves and stems of wheat and destroys the crop.
- Rust – This is a fungal disease that causes orange, yellow, or black powdery mildew on leaves and stems.
- Remedy: -
Where there is a problem, there is a solution. So, if such an insect attack occurs during wheat cultivation, it must be prevented. Steps I can take to prevent insect attacks are: - Constantly look at the crop. If there is an insect attack, spray insecticides.
- Cultivation should be done according to the advice of the agricultural expert team.
- Wheat seeds should be of good quality.
This way I can keep my wheat crop pest-free.
