Greetings Everyone, This is SHOHANA From #Bangladesh

Having a land for cultivating crops or fruits is a big blessing. My aim in life is farming and I may dedicate myself my retirement life in farming. If I had a land for cultivation I would test the soil at first with the help of soil specialists or experts in agriculture field and according to that test I would select the crops that can grow better in the soil of my land.

Growing organic foods is my aim and it would be anything like veggies or fruits. I have no aim for paddy cultivation but if the soil of land suit this crop then I don't mind to go for it. Which crop or fruit I want to cultivate that is not my first priority, what the soil of land can grow for me that is my priority. Say the land I got for free is suitable for mango trees cultivation.

• What's would you cultivate if given a large expanse of land?

Mango trees will be my choice for cultivation and I aim to grow organic mangoes and try not to use any kind of fertilizer or toxic pesticides. I want my mango garden full of organic and chemical free mangoes that can be healthy for we human and also healthy for birds who can eat mangoes from my garden for free.

Making money or doing business from my mango garden will be not my aim but I would love to sell them for reasonable price and may donate to people who can't afford buying mangoes from the market. These days our fruits are expensive like imported fruits and out of reach from common people.

• Why did you choose that particular plant/crop?

Mango is my most favorite fruit that grow in our soil very well. Our country is suitable for cultivating mangoes and the raising price of it the reason behind my choice too. I want to enjoy fresh organic mangoes and it should be chemical free too. These days it is hard to trust fruit sellers as they use different kinds of chemicals to preserve fruits.

Fruits and any kind of crops are blessing for us and I want to grow this blessing in my garden. I want to feed birds, poor people these mangoes for free beside that I want to enjoy organic mangoes from my garden. I want to cultivate in a natural way even my mangoes would be sour or tasteless but it should be poison or chemical free.

• How long will it take to mature and harvest?

Well mangoes are summer fruit so it can be cultivated in summer here. As far I know mangoes are ready to harvest around 100-150 days after flowering. I would love to harvest some raw mangoes to make salad of it or may taste it in varieties. Later I may collect ripe mangoes from my plants. If my land is bigger then I would plant 20-25 mango trees in a row. I take care of my plants by taking proper suggestion from experts in agriculture.

• What are the common pest and disease of that plant/crop. Also share how to control it.

Though I'm against pesticides but if necessary then I definitely consult experts for a alternative solution. Common pests are pathogens, mites, vertebrates and different kinds of insects. I want my trees grow healthy and give me fruits that free from harmful insects. I want them organic and pest controlling shouldn't be harmful treatment for my mango trees.
