Spring Training just started.  The New York Yankees suffered a major setback.

Luis Severino, one of their better pitchers in 2018, is going to need Tommy John Surgery.  This was the suggestion of two doctors.  Severino agreed with the assessment and will, according to Brian Cashman, will get it done as soon as possible.

The Yankees were trying to upgrade their pitching staff.  They signed Gerritt Cole to a record contract to frontline the rotation.  Severino had an injury plagued 2019 which saw him start 3 games in September with two in the post season.
