Criticizing to King of Thai is forbidden because of Lèse-majesté. So Thai people emphasize they emphasize criticizing not King but courtiers. It's similar to chrysanthemum taboo in Japan. Though Japan abolished Lèse-majesté it's taboo criticizing Emperor and his family from perspective of abolishment of emperor system. Some experts points out the reason why Japan hesitate to accept WW2 massacre and anti humanistic action is that Japanese fears criticizing to Emperor Hirohito.
