Religious fundamentalism is a scourge in modern society; it played a central role in giving us Trump; it has hindered social and economic progress in a number of avenues; it has been a key obstacle in our fight against climate change; and is now obstructing our response to coronavirus. A key focus of political activity as we move forward must be quashing this fanaticism and assert the secular nature of the US government.
