Probably the most famous computer virus ever and certainly the first one ever to go manic and global affecting PCs all around the world was the Love Bug Virus. Twenty years on, the BBC decided to track down its creator and have a little chat!
This is a great little story from the BBC about the Filipino guy who created the Love Bug Virus, simply to steal passwords so the guy, who was a student at the time, could get free internet access that he couldn't afford to pay for.
There were no cyber crime laws in the Philippines at that time, so he was never prosecuted when police traced the source but 20 years later, he still feels remorse and guilt at his misdemeanour , claiming he didn't know the virus would spread so far, so quickly and affect so many machines!
Of course, most of you youngsters out there won't even remember this but for me it was a little trip down memory lane.
The guy didn't really have much to say and now works in a little phone shop in downtown Manila but an interesting little read nevertheless! He certainly didn't get wealthy from it!
