Ompok pabda is a fish of South and Southeast Asia especially in Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Bhutan, Myanmar etc. It is a freshwater catfish. It is found in mainly rivers, lakes and ponds. It has high market demand because of its very delicious taste. Recently it has listed as endangered fish in Bangladesh. Pollution and over fishing of this fish is the main reason. But it is also being cultivated now.
