Did the Element developers really thing that after Parler and GAB they wouldn't be next? That they are protected because they are "open source" and "community driven"? Mastodon is open source and community driven and got into trouble when GAB used their technology.

PS: Element is an app to access Matrix messaging protocol. Matrix is used by large variety of users most of which are open source advocates. Which in turn are mostly left leaning.
But being driven away from everywhere else right leaning users are also looking into open source protocols.
What we are looking at is the left leaning open source community loosing one of their own apps because a few on the right have started to use the app.
