I welcome you all, my wonderful friends and fellow Steemians. I wish to express my opinion on the contest topic, Who is a Writer?".
Thanks to the amazing team and my lovely lady, @okere-blessing, for carving out the topic for this contest.

As the name implies, a writer is a person who writes stories, books, journals, articles, texts, passages, etc. He or she can also be referred to as a scribe, a journalist, a blogger, and so forth.
A writer is a generic name for a person who has the skill to combine words and sentences to formulate a grammatical construction using various writing techniques such as content, organisation, expression, language, mechanical accuracy, etc. to educate, persuade, inform, and entertain readers.

Without further delay, let's expound more on the topic using the contest tips.

From my own perspective, I take a writer to be a freelancer who write stories, articles, books, texts, scripts, passages for readers and for clientele. A writer may have the skill to do all of the above mentioned responsibilities but he or she may not be proficient enough be addressed as a professional in the field. A writer at this level is termed a microblogger or a microwriter because he or she writes on a peripheral level on certain topics. He or she has a limited intellectual ability to dissect and explore the subject matter, much like a professional writer would. If he or she desires a career in writing, he or she can undertake advanced professional training in courses related to professional writing. Such courses as journalism, linguistics, communication arts, and English language proper.

Definitely, writing is a very lucrative business, especially these days of the internet, where all the barriers associated with book publishing and its value chain have been eliminated. Many freelance writers write on different popular social media platforms, such as Fiverr, Indeed, freelancers, etc., and get paid. How about us here, writing on Steemit? Have we not been paid?. And have not some of us been earning a living here? Certainly, we have. Unless you're not consistent in your writing,. You can accumulate money that can cater to the basic needs of your family. On Steemit, many writers become millionaires by writing and posting their contents on the platform. I need not talk about professional writers or authors who own their own personal blogs and write for clients and Google Adsense. Popular bloggers like Linda Ikeji and Alibaba here in Nigeria are astonishingly rich because of their writing. So, without mincing words, writing is very profitable and a selling job that can take one out of poverty. If you just have the adequate skills, develop an interest, and take professional courses to improve yourself, you will ever live to appreciate the choice you make as a writer.

Like I already said, a writer must study hard to improve his vocabulary, organise his content well, and use excellent grammatical construction to arrange his write-ups. He must attain a certain level of mastery of the English language to make his writing free from too many grammatical errors. This can be achieved by taking professional training in journalism, English language, linguistics, and communications to gain the adequate skills required for writing proficiency.

I would do this a thousand times, provided the person has a passion for writing. Writing is a very lucrative job, offering you several windows of opportunity. You can write reviews on a product for different websites. You can write and publish books on Amazon KDP, and you can write contents for various educational websites too. Those who are good at script writing can develop a drama's script and sell it to movie producers. You can also act as an editor to proofread other upcoming writers's work before it gets published. All of the foregoings are multiple streams that can generate tangible income for a writer, and most of them are paid in dollars. A competent writer is very versatile in intellectual affairs and, as such, draws money from various sides into his pocket. I can always advise an interested person to become a writer.

A writer is the one who writes scripts, books, stories, passages, and articles. He or she is very versatile in intellectual affairs, a skill that brings income from various sources to his or her pocket. While writing is profitable, it should also be noted that writing is hard work; it requires the skill to crack your brain to formulate words to construct sensible sentences that appeal to the reader. It's not for simplistic minds. A competent writer never lacks so long as he or she is working hard and being diligent in his or her job. Writing is that lucrative job currently trending for one to make a living.
