Writing is one skill or profession that I have so much passion for, which makes this more interesting to me. Would like to take you through the journey with me. Shall I?

FROM YOUR PERSPECTIVE, WHO DO YOU THINK IS A WRITER?

A writer is one who has the potential, ability, capacity, and passion to convey knowledge or idea by writing. Today’s world has made writing much easier and interesting as writing can be done both manually and electronically.

There are people who have what to say, or discoveries they made, and want to share it, but are restricted because they cannot write; this can make one a scholar, and very good at any other thing, but not a writer.
If there’s an information to pass across without being written down, the number of people reached can be limited geographically.

DO YOU THINK WRITING IS A GOOD PROFESSION THAT CAN FETCH GOOD MONEY FOR THE WELL-BEING OF LARGE FAMILIES, (YOU CAN GIVE INSTANCES OF WRITERS, IF ANY).

I believe very much in that. In western countries for instance, there are writers who live off writing, only writing. This shows that writing isn’t just what anybody can do, but one must be creative to put words together to provoke one’s emotions and thoughts. This is why we have storybooks, novels, novelettes, and other genre of books sold.

There are not given out for free, most times, but sold to fetch some money for the writer, which by extension goes to the family.
William Shakespeare is world renowned writer, who has made impart in the world of writing, and whose style is distinct. Same with Chimamanda Adichie, an African lady that is known worldwide for her writing skill. This people have been made known because of writing, and this doesn’t stop with them, but can also open doors for them.

WHAT DO YOU THINK A WRITER SHOULD DO IN ORDER TO BE WIDELY RECOGNIZED/KNOWN.

Passion: I think this is the first thing that stands out among others when it comes to writing. One must have and nurture the passion of writing to be good at it. Once you have the desire to write, it become easier to venture into writing easily.

Originality: After having the desire to write, staying original is the next big thing to do. So many people just want to follow the trend to get popular quickly. Once this is the goal, you lose your authenticity because you’d always want to copy and paste just to be a part of the industry.

Style: One’s uniqueness in writing also matters a lot. For Willian Shakespeare for instance, he has a style of using the old English in writing, e.g. thou, hast, thin, etc. if a person is reading a book aloud and is overheard by another person, the first person to come into mind would be, is that Shakespeare?

Consistency: So many can get discouraged from writing due to the illiteracy level we have, or the lack of means to afford a book, or the internet to access an e-book, or the low yields and other reasons. But the fact remains that, whether or not it pays off, a writer should be consistent.

Niche: Know your area of writing and concentrate on that. A writer is not just a storyteller. A writer can equally talk about science, technology, business, farming, health, etc.

CAN YOU ADVISE SOMEONE TO VENTURE INTO WRITING AS A PROFESSION?

With all amount of pride and joy, I would. I have seen and heard of people that writing has paved ways for. It’s one thing I want to do full time, when I have the opportunity, resource, and time for it.

CONCLUSION

In all, we should learn to write because it stimulates our thinking faculty, helps us learn, expand our horizon. A good writer will look beyond the monetary, to make sure that his/her information is clearly sent.

Would like to invite @sur-riti, @bossj23, and @josepha to participate int his contest.
