Hello fellow friends. A nice day to you all. Hope you all are doing great. I saw a beautiful contest topIc by @fendit and it actually caught my attention. The topic is Your best childhood memory

This is quite interesting since we have various funny memories as children. I have a lot of them that were actually funny. But this is my most memorable one.

A Visit to Presidential Hotel Port Harcourt

My dad always love to take us to unique places when we were kids. On weekends, he will take us to another closeby states, zoos, famous hotel, and other relaxation centers not within our residential area.

That weekend, he decided that we are going to Port Harcourt the capital city of Rivers state now.

We drove down to Port Harcourt and after having meetings with some friends early that morning, He now took us to Presidential Hotel.

As kids, we have been hearing about how big and famous the hotel was and it was the haven of white visitors in the south south. I was also anxious to see the big swimming pool in the hotel and for the first time savour the experience of entering the Elevatorhahahah.

ohhh, I can't Wait

Once we got there, l quickly ran out of the car and followed some kids I saw with swimming trunks to the swimming pool.

Before my parents could do anything, I was inside the pool with all my cloths on. The pool was filled with children and they were urging me to come to the deeper side of the pool. Thank goodness, I did not listen to them. Something terrible would have happened.

My parents came around, and one of the kid's mother, who was a visitor from another country, got me a new set of cloths to put on from his son clothing.

This was the first incident

The second that still happened that same day was when my dad decided to take us to the topmost floor for lunch. And for the first time, I entered the Elevator.

As soon as the Elevator started moving up. I felt my head spinning. When we got to the topmost floor, the elevator stopped and opened. Every one went out except me. I could not fathom what was happening as my head was still spinning. My mom was urging me to come out but I moved and stayed at the center of the elevator door.

I was almost caught by the door if not for my Mom, who quickly retreated and pulled me out.

All in the lobby where laughing and I joined too not actually knowing why they where laughing.

We had lunch and it was fun all through with some kids that became my friends. I did not feel like going back home anymore.

I related my experiences at the hotel to my classmates in school and they were all laughing at me. Anytime they laugh at me, I would ask them if anyone of them have ever climbed the stairs with an elevator?. They would stop the jesting.

This experience happened when I was 7yrs old, in the early mid 80's.

I always remember this childhood experience with happiness and laughter. It is indeed an unforgettable one.
