The band consisted of studio musicians led by Jaap Eggermont, who created the concept for "Stars On 45" after hearing bootleg tracks from a major album called "Let's Do It In the 80's". The disc features songs by The Beatles, Buggles, Archie and Mad, as well as a cut of "Venus" by Shocking Blues, to which Egmont acquired the rights. Using this dancehall bootleg, Eggermont created a licensed remix using an artist that sounded like the original.
The Beatles imitators were singers from Holland: John Lennon from Bas Muys and two more from Hans Vermeulen and Okie Huysdens. In addition to the rewritten songs, original choruses are added between each song.
After their first hit "Stars on 45 Medley", many Beatles songs, like their other albums, reached No. 1 in the US and No. 2 in the UK. The Beatles Second Set was ranked #67 in the US, ABBA was #2 in the UK, Motown Music was #55 in the US, and Stevie Wonder was #28 in the US and #14 in the United Kingdom. The Rolling Stones also performed a medley.
There was a promotional tour also known as Stars on 45 (although the artists were different from the recording studio). There was a performance at the Huntington Hartford Theater in Hollywood, California in 1982 and MCA Home Video released a video of the performance in 1983.
