After Brandy hit it big with her platinum debut single "I Wanna Be Down", she released her second single "Baby" from her self titled debut album. As usual, "Baby" is predominantly R&B with elements of hip-hop and pop. The single did better on Billboard Hot 100 than her debut single, when it peaked at number 4. It was also certified platinum in the United States. However, it failed in UK Singles chart only charting at number 174.
