Before "I Will Survive" became a worldwide phenomenon, Gloria Gaynor had been trying to break into the music industry for 15 years. Almost from the moment of her birth on September 7, 1943, in New Jersey, she had been singing for many more years. Or her earliest memories, when she fell in love with jazz on the radio, or when her brothers refused to let her join their group because she was a woman, or when she heard her father play the ukulele before leaving home, and she was almost there. I didn't see him anymore. Even though no one in her house knew about it, she just wanted to sing.
Thanks to her rendition of the song of the same name, she finally found success for herself in 1975 with her debut album Never Can Say Goodbye. She felt that her star was fading without having shined bright enough as album sales fell on her subsequent releases. Her record label was willing to give up to renew the deal. Through the halls of Polydor, people were saying, "The queen is dead." Naturally, she was the queen. Going back to jazz clubs and RandB was out of the question for her as she approached 35, at least for the moment.
The first and only Grammy for "Best Disco Song" went to "I Will Survive" in 1980. She took note of the splendor of the movement and watched as pop geared up for a change of command from above. The song, however, had already set out on her own course and sought to travel as far as she could. She performed a historic concert in Vía del Mar after recording a version in Spanish that made it more accessible to the public in these latitudes. A part of the crowd began to light some torches in full bilingual performance. When she refused to turn them off, the singer politely and firmly asked her to stop playing music. She only then she returned to acting.
buaaaaaaaaa que buena
