Hello Friends, In Engagement Challenge Season 20 there is a teaching team on Agriculture which I think will create great awareness among us on food production and agriculture environment. First Week Headline Impact of Climate Change on Agriculture Bangladesh is a major agricultural country 80 percent of the country's people are directly and indirectly involved in agriculture. Let's prepare today's assignment.

Describe in detail how climate change affects agricultural productivity.

Climate has a major impact on agricultural productivity. Climate change is directly and indirectly affecting agricultural productivity. The ways in which climate is affecting agriculture will be discussed in detail below.
Temperature change: High temperature damages crop growth and quality and also reduces yield. I have learned from my past experience that this time I could not produce normal corn because the corn plant dried up prematurely due to excessive temperature and I could not protect it with irrigation. The leaves of the maize plants died due to high heat.

Water Scarcity: Excess temperature creates drought in soil water scarcity and severely affects crop yield. Crops such as wheat and maize are particularly vulnerable to water stress.

Irrigation Need: Excess temperature increases the cost of irrigation in agriculture. Increased temperatures and reduced rainfall lead to higher water demand for irrigation and increase costs for farmers by making water resources more expensive.

Heavy Rains or Floods: Climate change has droughts as well as floods or heavy rains. Heavy rainfall or flooding can destroy crops through waterlogging. Heavy rains can cause soil erosion and loss of fertility

Crop diseases under the influence of climate: Various diseases appear in crops under the influence of climate Many times such a disease is seen that half of the crop is destroyed in order to eradicate it. Current Aman rice is plagued by the heat of the sun above and at the base of the crop in the heat of the summer.

Climate change disrupts agriculture and reduces normal production leading to the collapse of the agricultural sector. However, significant efforts in research and practice are needed to ensure climate-resilient agricultural systems. With climate change we need improved cultivars that are drought or flood tolerant.

Discuss how extreme rainfall and extreme drought damage crops.

More of nothing is better in every production. Agriculture A drought and a drought reduce agricultural production. Agriculture requires normal climate. But nothing more is suitable for agriculture. Let's find out how lack of rain and excessive rain damage crops.

No rain

No rain
Some crops require maintaining the water table at a specific level (in the case of rice) and other crops require wet irrigation at specific times. But due to lack of rain, the water table drops too low, making it difficult to irrigate frequently and control soil temperature, which then disrupts normal crop growth and reduces yield. Excessive drought results in excessive weed growth and depletes soil fertility.

Thunderstorm
Excess rain causes flooding and this standing water causes physical damage to crops such as lightening of plants and bending in low winds. Rotting of the plant causes fungal diseases. Excess rain prevents the roots of fruit trees from receiving oxygen. Excessive rainfall causes soil erosion which destroys soil fertility.

Both extreme rains and droughts can have serious economic impacts. Reduced crop yields lead to lower incomes for farmers, higher food prices and potential shortages in the supply chain. Extreme weather events pose significant challenges to agriculture by affecting plant health, soil quality and overall crop productivity.

Discuss in stages how new pests and diseases are emerging as a result of climate change and what measures farmers can take to prevent them.

Crop diseases (fungal) increased after heavy rain

Currently, as high yielding varieties of seeds are being developed, new crop diseases are emerging. Rising global temperatures are expanding the range of pests and diseases in agriculture. Similarly, fungal diseases are increasing through rainfall.

An important cause of the increase in disease in agriculture is the reduction of natural predators. There was a time when many birds were found in the fields but now the natural predators are reduced to nil resulting in a huge increase in pests. Also this species is breeding on a larger scale. Overall, the above conditions lead to an increase in the life cycle of pests and pathogens.

What measures farmers can take:

Currently, many improved varieties of cereal seeds are being developed which are more resistant to diseases and have higher yield. Also, crop diversity can be introduced in cultivation which can reduce diseases.

Avoid killing birds for natural disease control. Birds benefit farmers by eating crop pests. Farmers will also benefit from integrated agriculture by releasing ducks into crops to reduce pest infestation.
To educate farmers about disease prevention and increase farmer awareness through training. Farmers have an idea of the weather so that they can predict in advance what measures should be taken. Also know the correct use of pesticides and have an idea about application methods.

Climate change poses major challenges to agriculture. Therefore, farmers should tackle these challenges through awareness and research.

Discuss what changes are needed in irrigation systems due to climate change.

Water irrigation is one of the elements in agriculture. Agriculture cannot be imagined without water irrigation. The water level is constantly going down so farmers have to prepare for alternative measures from now on.

Irrigation

Natural Sources:
Creating new water resources We still draw water from deep in the ground for irrigation but we need to be more aware of the way the layers are going down. We can store river water by damming during monsoon and use it for irrigation during dry season.

Artificial Source:
We can arrange water irrigation in deep irrigation systems which are modern and can handle irrigation work over a very large area. Also monitoring the ground water level and not extracting excess water. Our awareness can sustain our groundwater levels.

Cultivation of crops that require less water. To impart training to the farmers on modern irrigation technology and irrigation techniques. To increase awareness about water use efficiency and proper methods of irrigation.

Explain the two best ways to respond to climate change.

I think climate change is man made. Humans are harming the environment for their own sake which is hindering the natural movement of the environment resulting in climate change.

Conservation of natural forests: If we conserve forests instead of clearing them, the carbon dioxide absorbed by trees will help keep the earth cool. Forests on the other hand will be safe habitats for biodiversity which preserve biodiversity. The effects of climate change can be countered by increasing forest cover and reducing deforestation.

Encouraging recycling: Every day we throw away various types of waste and increase methane gas which results in the environment. If we want to, we can control climate change by recycling our leftovers. There are also many elements that help us to control climate change above all our awareness as humans can protect us from climate change.

Thanks for taking your valuable time to visit the post.

A great farmer in the making 👏 you have explained everything well and i enjoyed reading through your blog and most especially your beautiful pictures you shared above it shows that you practice agriculture very well.

Thanks for the invitation i will tey my possible best to participate.
I wish you success my brother have a nice day.

I am directly connected with agriculture and I like this work very much especially within few days of planting when the field turns green.

Looking forward to reading your post. Thanks for your valuable visit.

You're welcome friend

Due to weather changes we have seen different changes in different crops. All of which are really not beneficial to us and are causing damage to the crops. You, as a farmer, must observe these and see that there is a reduction in crop production and a loss of soil quality. Crop diseases have increased. Which is being observed as a major obstacle to financial and social development.

The impact of climate change is such that we are getting the opposite weather. As a farmer regular crop field monitor and knowledge about weather is very necessary. To keep agricultural production normal, we need to protect our environment and awareness to stop climate change. Thanks for your valuable suggestions.

Yes of course, thank you very much .

Observations and suggestions:
You were practical about responding to all tasks and as well attended to them very nicely. Being intentional in bringing out all salient points required for each task was all perfect. For the duck's practice used for pest control; it is amazing to come across it once again.
Endeavor to have full free informal-contents in your publications as they were traces of foreign words though very infinitesimal.

I hope to see more of your entries as we progress. Thanks for participating...

We never use carbofuran on the cropland next to our house. Poultry is very helpful in reducing insect infestation, also using natural methods like lemon peels and onion peels sprinkled on crop land reduces insect infestation. I will learn your team Agrote farming and follow this method in my farming. Thanks for your valuable observations.

Brother, you have done a great job. You have a lot of agriculture knowledge. The images shown by you are very beautiful by the way the area where the pictures are taken is yours?
My best wishes with you.

Thanks for your appreciation. My family is agricultural and committed to food production. Yes, this agricultural land is ours. We produce 8-9 different crops in a year.

Brother amazing. Which type of crops are produced ?? I hope I visit his land one day. By the way in our village, there is also land for crops but not that much. U are very expert in agriculture then. Appreiatable 👏

Our main crops are paddy, maize, groundnuts, potatoes and to a lesser extent we grow some vegetables including turmeric, ginger, onion, chilli and mustard. I have great interest in agriculture. thank you brother

Nice bro. Keep it up.Good.Obliged.

Through your post, I have been able to see how high temperature plays a role in crop growth and yield. Due to climate change, high temperatures damage and reduces these crops and yield. I have also come to learn that on the other hand, excessive rain causes the root of fruit trees for example to lose oxygen needed for growth while drought severely affects crop yield hence the need for agricultural intervention if we want to preserve the productivity of agriculture.

Thanks for taking your valuable time to read and comment.
