Animal Activities #07

Domesticated animals are found in human society. Most of them have been on earth for more than five thousand years. Some of these animals serve different purposes. For instance, dogs are social animals we use for security purposes to protect us and our property. But my discussion is based on chickens, and here is my contribution regarding the topic.

Chickens are majorly raised for eggs, slaughtered for meat, and used for cockfighting by most people in other countries, especially in Asia. Chickens are very common worldwide, and they can lay more than 250 eggs annually. They have different names attributed to these beautiful creatures; female chickens are called hens, while male chickens are called roosters. They belong to the kingdom Animalia and are omnivorous animals that feed on maize, guinea corn, leftover food, insects, and other concentrated feed.

Their lifespan is usually between 7-10 years but depends on the breed raised in various households. Some people keep chickens as pets and give them good care, similar to other domestic animals like dogs goats and cats.

We love to have chickens in our house because they serve as animals whose behaviors entertain us. The common diseases that usually affect them are avian influenza, newcastle, coccidiosis, and so on. Drugs are available for the prevention and treatment of these diseases in the veterinary hospital. Chickens are very easy to eat without struggling to swallow, and they also contain a high amount of protein, which is essential for our body. Another important benefit of eating chicken is that it improves our brain to function effectively.

Domestic animals try to create a mutual relationship with their owners because they see them as people who nurture and feed on any food that is available at that moment. I would like to invite @safdarali, @radleking and @chommygift to participate in this contest.
