Hello Steem-Agro Community

Hello My Steemain Friends ,

How are you. I hope you people of steemian are good and enjoy your life . Well I am well. May God bless you all. Today I am writing about an interesting Steemit Engagement Challenge S20 - W3: which is all time my favourite topic "Identification and Elimination of Crop Pests""". So, in this post I am going to share my point of view about this topic.

When you visited the crop field, what pests did you observe there? How did you identify that it was a pest?

Although we live in the city and there is no farm or barn near here, still I have read in books that when the crops are ready, many types of insects attack the fields which completely ruin the crops. I have read in books that if the wheat and jowar crops are ready in the fields, then an insect called termite attacks them.

Similarly, an insect called Bhuha Pillu attacks the moong and urad crops and an insect called Phali Chhedna attacks the pigeon pea crop which completely ruins our crops.

And the infestation of the fields with insects can be identified by the smell coming from the fields. A different kind of smell comes out from the crops ready in the fields and holes are formed in the crops at various places. This helps in identifying the infestation of the crops with insects.

Which pesticides do you think are suitable for controlling the pests you observed in the field? Please express your own opinion. (Note: For your convenience, the names of the pesticide groups are mentioned above.)

I have read that if the fields are infested with pests, then the farmer sprays Flor Poly Pass salt chemical pesticide. By spraying this pesticide, the crops are saved from getting destroyed and this pesticide keeps the crops completely safe from pests. That is why most of the farmers keep their crops completely safe by spraying this pesticide and they are always ready for this.

My Opinion

I do not have much knowledge about agriculture. But the leaves of the plants I grow at home sometimes turn yellow. No matter how much fertilizer or water you give, the leaves start tearing. When I remove the soil, I see small ants and very small insects moving in it, so then I change the entire soil. I spread it out and dry it in the sun for a while. So we say that the trees are not getting proper food, that is why their leaves are getting spoiled, because insects and ants are eating their food.

Describe the method of trapping insects by creating a pest trap using various natural materials (such as containers, adhesive substances).

Insecticide trap is a type of lure to catch insects. In this, the farmer sprays a type of chemical substance around the crops and the insects come in the range of the spray and get trapped in it and are unable to reach the crop. This saves the crop from getting destroyed. There may be many types of insecticides like containers etc.

and some more. I do not have complete information about it. I had read it in books but do not remember anything. In this way, to save their crops, farmers spray chemical substances in the fields in some stages, so that the insects come to eat them and get trapped in the net and the crop does not get destroyed.

Discuss in detail which crops you think the use of bio-chemicals is beneficial and cost-effective.

The use of biochemicals for crops is very beneficial. It also increases the fertility of crops and the yield is good. Due to this, the farmers who grow crops also get good profits. Their yield increases many times by using biochemicals.

Therefore, most of the farmers now use biochemical substances to increase the production of their crops. I have read in books that many farmers have now started using biochemical products more to make their crops more green and to increase the yield many times more.

Make a chart of which pesticides are used for which pest in your area and discuss with us. Special Note: If not aware of this, a permanent farmer or anyone involved in agriculture can take help.

Most of the farmers use a pesticide called Dentup for the paddy crop. By using it, their paddy crop remains safe and does not get cut. Similarly, to save the Mahua and Lahi crops, pesticide made from neem powder is sprayed in the fields. This saves their crops. Many farmers also spray boric acid salt powder in their fields from time to time.

This reduces the chances of pest attack. I do not know much about it. Based on whatever I read in my books, I would like to say that farmers also spray a chemical pesticide called Flor Polyfast in their fields from time to time to protect their crops from pests.

Observations and suggestions:
Glad to hear you have read about agriculture from the book. It is true that agricultural crops are less available in cities. It would be nice if you mentioned the name of the crop disease and the name of the pesticide correctly, ma'am. There is no alternative to the use of biochemicals to increase crop yields. Biochemicals are especially used as hormones. But you can consult any farmer to get practical knowledge about agriculture ma'am. Thank you very much for writing the post.

Thanks

Great post! Your detailed explanation of crop pests and pest control is quite informative, especially for someone who’s not directly involved in farming. 🌾 The methods you've shared for identifying pests and the use of biochemicals are very insightful. The pest trapping techniques and your personal experience with houseplants added a nice touch of practicality. 🌱 Keep up the good work💪😊
Cheers! 🌟
