• Explain the difference between agriculture and farming.

Agriculture is the backbone of many economies of the world today. It is that umbrella word that encompasses every other activity like farming, livestock management, supply chain management, environmental stewardship attainment, raw material supplies, etc.

In contrast, farming involves both crop and livestock production. This is an activity that anchors the present food security and sustainability we have in play. However, other aspects, as listed for agriculture, are direct supplementals to the activities of farming.

Be it agriculture or farming, the purpose remains the overall good to improve food security and sustainability. Agriculture, from which every other sector, as mentioned, derives its functionality, has been a major income earner for most economies.

• What are the 5 major problems faced by farmers?

These are some of the problems faced by farmers;

1.Poor Funding:
Funding has remained a common and universal challenge for farmers. Most of the activities require capital, and hence, this poses a challenge to food security and sustainability. Engaging in commercial farming is capital-intensive, and this is usually burdensome for farmers to bear.

2.Climate Change:
This is one inevitable challenge farmers face. It is inevitable because of the unpredictable challenges it causes that put farmers in a dire situation to continue farming activities. Some of these are drought, flooding, disease outbreaks, etc.

3.Inadequate Technological Know-How:
As the world continues to evolve, we see changing technologies and advancements in handling farming tools. Our aging farmers, who represent a greater percentage of active farmers across the globe most times, are laid back and have little or no idea of how to operate this machinery.

4.Pest and Disease Outbreaks:
This might be caused by climatic factors that bring variation in temperature rates. Most times, this has a direct impact on pests and their prevalence by increasing their potency and concentration, which are too severe for our crops and livestock to withstand.

5.Government Polices & Land Use Acts:
Government inconsistent policies are harmful to agricultural development, and this is a threat to food security and sustainability. When local farmers are undermined by import-driven policies, this affects their supply chain and productivity. The way we handle land also determines how far sustainability is achieved.

• Mention some agricultural technologies you know

There are varying agricultural technologies across different countries. Some are developed based on what works well for them because of the topography or environmental factors.

We have the irrigation system technology. This is a technology that was adopted and used more in the northern region of the country because of the little rainfall counts witnessed. Therefore, the irrigation system was adopted and used to help ameliorate water issues.

We also have drone technology, which continues to elvove puts additional features. This technology helps improve farming and all around if it guaranteed food security and sustainability.

• Why do you think agriculture is important? Give 5 reasons.

1.Food Security & Sustainability
Everyone depends on food for survival. Be it freshly consumed or processed, agriculture plays a vital role in human existence. We feed to live, and this is the primary role of offers to humans.

2..Employment
Agriculture creates job opportunities to its host community and country. This has a great deal to improve the livelihoods of citizens. This is a robust sector capable of absorbing millions of job seekers, which have an overall effect on socio-economic indices.

3.Contribution to GDP
Just like every other sector, agriculture plays a major role in adding to the economy standing of every country. The level of participation and operation determines how much contribution agriculture makes to the GDP

4.Sole Supplier of resources to Industries
Agriculture is the bedrock and hub of raw materials used by our industries. This is an important resource that drives the economies, industries, and, provides job opportunities.

5.Comparative advantage
Many advance and high agricultural countries now use their strength in agricultural activities to negotiate other less privileged resounces. This help them not only grow their economies but also become prize determinants of such commodities.

It is good to always discuss agriculture as it is the mainstay of economies and how best economic stimulus is injected positively. This is my view, and I wish to invite @fantvwiki, @chant, @max-pro to also join the contest.
