What do you understand by Traditional Agriculture

Traditional agriculture can be defined as a primitive style of food production and farming that involves the intensive use of land, traditional tools and natural resources.

Traditional agriculture is an approach based on minimizing the use of external inputs fertilizers, insecticides and pesticides.

The most important characteristics of traditional agriculture include the extensive use of local or indigenous knowledge and beliefs when making agricultural decisions. Heavy use of primitive or low-tech tools such as the hoe and stick and the use of cutter raising to create fallow land.

Some examples of traditional agricultural practices are agroforestry which is a deliberate planting and maintaining trees on the same plot of land as agricultural crops. It is successful at controlling variables such as temperature, explosion of wind, sun and rain and crop rotation which is growing different crops on the same land based on the season. It helps preserve soil productivity, reduces pests and minimizes use of chemicals, maximize yields and reduce reliance on set of nutrients.

Mention those traditional/semi-modern Agricultural tools and its uses

SHOVEL is a tool with a broad flat blade and typically upturned sides, used for moving coal, earth, snow or other material.

GRASS CUTTER is a device used to cut grass, as a lawn mower.

WATERING CAN are used by gardeners for watering plants, by road workers to apply bitumen to asphalt, as ornaments, and regularly in symbolic art pieces.

PESTICIDE SPRAYER In agriculture, a sprayer is a piece of equipment that is used to apply herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers on agricultural crops.

What are those Agricultural practices that you have come to see or practice.

I have seen both the methods of agricultural practices.

Conclusions

Traditional farming may yield less, but there is sufficient quality attached to its yield. On the other hand, modern farming may fall short of quality and optimize yields.

Traditional farming needs a great amount of labor and hence, the job opportunities provided to laborers are more.

On the other hand, modern farming does not need a great amount of labor since the machines take care of everything. Hence, the job opportunities provided to laborers are comparatively poor and less.

My mentor, you have done an excellent work here. Especially on your ability to compare traditional agriculture to modern Agriculture.

However, don't you feel that modern Agriculture should aim at using innovative strategies to improve the quality of crop yield? Why then should the traditional agriculture possess more quality when compared to the modern Agriculture?

Thank you for raising the relevant point.
