Greetings friends of Steemit and Steem-Agro
The plants absorb nutrients from soil for growth, yieldfruit and crops. So the nutrients replenish from soil. This nutrients need to be replanished regularly. The ideal amount of fertilizer to meet the nutrition requirements of the crop can be decided by the farmers based on the soil test report.
Water going through the soil down with gravity from the surface down deeper levels and water flowing down percolating down through the pores and porosity at a certain rate and taken with it or dissolve in and in solution in the water taking small particles of minerals and ions and organic matter down with it. A certain element or certain ion has been leached out of the soil which means that say potassium or calcium or sodium or magnesium or iron that was in a layer of soil let's say in the horizon in the top soil towards the surface and the water had taken out those ions those cations and anions mostly cations and taking it down deeper in the soil and we call that leaching or the certain ion or certain element has been leached out of the soil layer and has been deposited at a deeper point usually in the accumulation layer or the alluvial zone which is in the horizon so leach in just means the taken away of material
Soil erosion is a significant issue affecting our environment and agricultural productivity.
One natural cause is wind erosion, where strong winds blow away the top layer of soil. Another natural cause is water erosion, which occurs when rainwater or runoff carries away soil. Overgrazing by livestock can also worsen soil erosion by removing the protective cover of grass.
Farming practices like tillage can accelerate soil erosion tillage involves turning the soil which exposes it to wind and water erosion construction activities such as clearing land for buildings and Roads can cause soil erosion improper Drainage Systems can lead to water accumulate which can wash away soil.
We also view our farm or ranch as a holistic system and we look for ways to improve our farm's overall health and resilience.
So, practices that are considered sustainable should meet four criteria. They're productive; they're profitable; they enhance the quality and abundance of our natural resources; and they improve the quality of life for our families and communities.d ranches, we all share this same vision.
We find ways to work with nature when raising crops and livestock by focusing on things like biodiversity, soil health, ecological pest management, and water conservation. We lower our use of tillage and chemical inputs as much as possible.
We're creating a productive growing environment that uses fewer purchased inputs.
We sell our products through multiple channels and engage with communities to meet the demand for local foods and better ensure that all people can access healthy food. Sustainability involves focusing on the health and well being of ourselves, our families and our workers.
Farmers who prioritize sustainability are always trying to find new ways to solve problems and build resilient systems.
