in hive-118902 •  3 months ago

Greetings

How are you all my friends, I hope that you are all fine and enjoying your selves. Today I am participating in the contest organized by @mainunain the Steem Agro Community. So let's get into it.

My Diary Game (9).png

When you visited the crop field, what pests did you observe there? How did you identify that it was a pest?

I have visited a lot of crop fields but I have observed caterpillar pests in my crop field in my maternal uncle's crop field which is in Pakistan, Bannu. I have observed Green caterpillar pests in my uncle's crop field. I have identified this pest, from holes that caterpillars created. From that I came to know that caterpillars were eating it. But the caterpillar was causing a lot of damage to the crop so removing these caterpillars is mission.

Which pesticides are suitable for controlling the pests you observed in the field? Please express your own opinion
  • Personally, I don't have used any of the pesticides which are mentioned above because my maternal uncle has a lot of knowledge about caterpillar pests so he has used Neen Oil for the removal of caterpillar pesticides. Neem oil directly targets the caterpillar. There are a lot of benefits of using Neem oil it doesn't harm or less harm the bees or ladybugs.

  • I have used this like I have mixed Neem Oil with water and I have applied this in the form of a spray at night because at night there is no sunlight so it has no chance of affecting the plant. We can also apply this spray in the morning as at that time heir is no sunlight but in me, night nighttime is best.

Describe the method of trapping insects by creating a pest trap using various natural materials (such as containers, and adhesive substances).

I can trap insects using a container like a bowl and can add honey to it. Insects like honey so they can attract to it then cover the upper layer with a plastic sheet and make a small hole on it so insects can be trapped in it and if we want to trap the crawling insects then we can add a little bit glue to this paste and when the crawling insects come they can stick to it. Now the trap is ready we should put the trap, where there are alot of insects.

Discuss in detail which crops you think the use of bio-chemicals is beneficial and cost-effective.
  • In the case of vegetables like tomatoes and cucumbers Neem oil is very beneficial (bio-chemical) to control pests without harming any useful insects and the compost improves the soil's physical chemical and biological properties.

  • In the case of fruits like apples or strawberries Bacillus thuringiensis (bio-chemical) targets a specific pest and the compost improves the soil fertility etc as discussed above.

  • Cereals like corn and wheat use diatomaceous earth which is natural and helps in avoiding pests which saves a lot of farmer's money and attract buyers who like organic food.

Make a chart of which pesticides are used for which pest in your area and discuss with us. Special Note: If not aware of this, a permanent farmer or anyone involved in agriculture can take help.

Common Pesticides in Pakistan:

Pesticides:Pest to be controlled:
IntecidesInsects
RodenticideRats, Mice, and Other Rodents
WeedicidesWeeds
FungicideFungal Diseases
AsacisideSpider and Mites

Ratio of Pesticides in Pakistan:

Pesticides:Ratio in Pakistan:
Intecides57.45%
Rodenticide3.19%
Weedicides20.74%
Fungicide15.96%
Asaciside2.66%

These are some pesticides that are very common in Pakistan and using each pesticide in true time is beneficial, in a sense like if their are insects in a crop then we should use Intecides.

I would like to invite @goodybest @wakeupkitty and @chant to participate in this contest.

Observations and suggestions:

It is much better to control the paste with neem oil using natural means. It has no site effect. Bacillus thuringiensis (biochemical) is really essential in fruits like apples or strawberries. It has very good soil quality. Natural ingredients are also very effective remedies for corn borer. The pesticides used in your area were very good.

Thank you so much for your insightful observation brother!

Weeds we all have, here it's close to 80% if not more quiet a burden because it grows faster than a seedling.

To fight insects and birds eating the plants and fruits I also use nets.

I find it great you don't use the chemical pesticides it damages the plant, soil and what you grow next to that insect will get immune to it. It's better to use natural control like certain birds, ladybugs and more.

You wrote something good, just the way you started wasn't very catchy because you repeated yourself a few times.

I wish you good luck with the contest!

Thank you so much dear for your suggestions and feedback! I will work on making my writing less repetitive though maybe I will need some ladybugs for that too! 😂 Thank you again for your kind remarks! 😂 I appreciate your well wishes! 🌻🌿

Your research and efforts can make a difference in the lives of farmers. Great initiative. Good luck for this contest.

Thank you so much, brother.
