A grass is a small plant of a herbaceous family that grows close to the soil. Grass is so significant to both human and animals survival. Majority of human beings depend on grasses for their daily diet and medicine. *Grasses constitute almost 26 percent of the total plant life on earth.

*Majority of the world's food come from grasses.

"There are more than ten thousand species of grasses across the globe.

*All grasses have one seed-leaf.

*Most grasses are herbs in nature and they die at the end of every growing season .

*Grasses improve our air quality by producing oxygen trapping airbore dust particles .

*In dry seasin, sometimes grasses reduce temperature surrounding us significantly and make it bearable.

Grasses are significant to both man and animal's life. 1. Grasses are good sources of food for man. The whole grains and nuts that are significant vitamins to the body come from grasses. Millet, rice, wheats, barley, sorghum and other foods are eaten by man globally. They all come from grasses. They are also good sources of feed to animals especially herbivorous animals.

1. Grasses serve as medicine. Most if not all grasses are used for manufacturing of drugs. The orthodox medicines are are used in treatment of different diseases are produced from roots, barks and leaves of small plants. They can also be used raw to cure ailments.

2. Grasses help to check erosion. They help prevent erosion through their firm grip of the top soil. With this, they prevent plant nutrients from being washed away by wind or rain

3. Grasses also provide home for animals. Most small animals like rats, wild cats, snakes live in and under grasses.

4. They add esthetic value to our surroundings. Natural beauty of grasses act as flowers to give man that excitement that comes with it.
