Hello friends
I love good food and am a great fan of food but does that make me a foodie?
We worry that our food would run out before we get replacement. What do you do during this time? |

Food is something humans should never lack because it is one of our basic needs. We eat food for several reasons and one of it is to stay healthy and survive.
Each time our food is running out, there is always tension. For me when I notice my food is running out one of the things I do is to cut down on my food intake. If I normally eat 3 times a day I reduce it to two. There was this particular time last year I has to eat once a day for over three months.
Another thing I do is to start thinking of the money I need to replace the food items and I go as far as making a list of all the items needed and their prices.
Well most times I don't wait for the food to finally finish before I go to the market, so after making my list I get the money and go the market straight ahead.
Do you have an alternative in supplying food in your house other than buying from the local market? |

Well the alternative I have for supplying food aside local market is a little farm or should I say a garden where I plant things like vegetables, fresh pepper, tomatoes, corn and okro.
Once I tried to add cassava to it just to see how well the land can carry it. I think it very good to have alternatives for food supply other than the local markets. This will save us a lot of money and time. Food planted by us in our farms feels great when you harvest and eat it.
Back in my village, we even make our Garri ourselves, we plant yam, groundnut and rice ourselves. Having the farm as your alternative to food supply makes you eat fresh food and healthy food.
What is the most popular food in your country and how frequent do you consume it? |

There several popular food in my country which is Nigeria. Such food include Rice, beans, Garri, fufu, Yam, corn, starch and banga.
The most popular among all these food mentioned is Rice. Rice is eaten by all tribes of the country. Young and old. For me I eat rice almost every week . Infact over here many has decided that the food for Sunday is rice.
Guess what? I don't care eating rice almost every day, that's how much I love rice. There is no week that passes by that I don't eat rice.
Have you ever thought of having a mini farm or do you have a mini farm? What types of crops would you plant there and do you think it would be an added advantage to you? |

MODs Comment/Recommendation:
Great dear! I like how much you are passionate about food and self-sufficiency! Also in Pakistan, rice is a big deal just like in Nigeria. Also, I have a mini farm too in my farm which my mom likes a lot. By the way, your post is well presented. Wishing you all the best for the contest. Stay blessed dear!

@ruthjoe, it's always interesting to read about the standard of living of people in other countries. In our country, agronomists sow wheat, corn and sunflowers)
