A few days ago, I came across this post by the Architecture+Design Community which invites everyone to tell about their "Dream House".
Firstly, I think that Architecture is a fascinating topic and I feel that it's relevant to many of us who desire beautiful houses & fancy interiors.
In the post, everyone is being asked to describe what their dream house would be. Although, there are specific questions being asked I would like to frame my answer from my own perspective. So, let me give it a shot...
Futuristic Architecture
I'm a big fan of the works of futuristic thinkers like Zaha Hadid who simply design like her clients is from an alternate universe. The structure that she design looks like it was ahead of its time. It's otherworldly.
Here are some of her work that fits my vision:
Lakeside House
I may not be a good swimmer but I always wanted the serenity of living beside a body of water; I prefer lakeside.
Just look how gratifying to wake up with a view like this. I could feel the breeze passing through the veranda and into the house while having a nice breakfast. It feels like a retreat living in a place like this.
Villa style
A standard-sized villa is a perfect fit for me. I would rather have a relatively smaller indoor space to allow more of the area of the outdoor space.
Modern Materials
I like the solidity of concrete, the transparency of glass, and the flexibility of steel. Having these 3 materials blended together in a subtle way would result in a very pleasing house in my opinion.
Lastly...
I think there's more to it than what the eye can see... Architecture is a way of life. The choices I made for my dream house is almost wishful thinking but that's just how I envisioned a life within my dream house. I wanted to have spaces that are suitable for my lifestyle and my family.
Just being close to a lake makes me feel that I coexist with nature and the habitats living within. It also makes it perfect for my family to bond and be pleased by the beauty of nature. I never wanted to live a life with my family in an urban area where there is so much noise and stress that the city life would bring.
