Hey there, i am Gemini and today i sit with you all explaining how are made the E-Juices/E-Liquids for the E-Cigs.

The components of the e-liquid, are principally four:

  • 1-Propylene glycol, often indicated with the initials PG
  • 2-Vegetable glycerol, indicated with the initials VG
  • 3-Flavour
  • 4-Nicotine

The aroma, and possibly the nicotine, make up a small part of the liquid for electronic cigarettes, which is mainly composed of the combination of propylene glycol and vegetable glycerol. The mixture of these two components is in fact called the base liquid.
But what are these two substances? These are two water-soluble components that each have a specific function within the electronic cigarette:

-PROPYLENE GLYCOL is a chemical compound with a colorless and odorless appearance, and a slightly sweet taste. It is used in various fields to convey flavors and aromas thanks to its hygroscopic properties. As you can imagine, the task of propylene glycol is to keep the aroma of the vape intact and enjoyable. Furthermore, if you are wondering, it is non-toxic and edible, in fact it finds great use especially in the cosmetic and food industry.
-VEGETABLE GLYCEROL, also called vegetable glycerin, is a natural additive with a very viscous appearance, which is usually used in cosmetics for its moisturizing qualities. In electronic cigarettes, however, it is mainly used for its ability to generate smoke and vapor: its concentration within the base liquid defines the amount of vapor generated by the atomizer.

The amount of propylene glycol and vegetable glycerol can change depending on the liquid used and the preferences of the vaper. It is not unusual for the ratio between the two components within the base liquid to be 50/50, but there are also 70/30 or 80/20 mixtures, where the highest value is always that of vegetable glycerol.

The flavors in e-liquid

The Flavours are food grade aromas, dissolved in propylene glycol, and it is possible to find the most variety: fruity, vanilla or menthol, also flavours that remind creams and food from pastry shops😁 but there are also those who do not disdain the aroma of tobacco, which makes the vape experience more similar to the classic cigarette shot.

In the natural ones, the aromatic matrix is generally of vegetable origin - for example fruit or tobacco - but in some cases it is possible to use synthetic flavors in which the component of the molecules is identical to that of the originals.

In base liquids with a 50/50 composition, the aromatic experience is very marked, and is generally preferred by beginners when they approach the electronic cigarette.

-The presence of nicotine

Nicotine is an organic compound extracted from tobacco that creates a certain level of addiction in those who use it. In traditional cigarettes, it is often accompanied by other components that are not always healthy, not to mention the combustion process, which is very harmful to the lungs.

It is used in electronic cigarettes in order to satisfy the smoker's need for nicotine - providing the so-called hit, or blow to the throat - but at the same time convey it through a healthier means. A smoker eager to quit can start with an ecig with a higher concentration of nicotine and reduce it little by little until it is completely eliminated from their habits.

What do you think about? let me know with a comment ;)

PS. Now that we know how an electronic cigarette and its liquids are composed, next time I will review some good products to start, to start quitting classic harmful cigarettes!!!

See ya,
Gemini
