Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in East Jerusalem witnessed last night clashes between Palestinians and Israeli forces, during which more than 200 Palestinians were injured.
For more than a week, the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood has witnessed confrontations between the Israeli police and Palestinian residents of the neighborhood, after the escalation of tension regarding the possible eviction of Palestinian families from an area claimed by Israeli settlers.
Social networking sites swept pictures and videos documenting the clashes that have reverberated across the world, as the hashtag #Save_Sheikh_Jarah neighborhood was issued in both Arabic and English, the list of the most widespread cartoons in the world.
And the US Representative in the US Congress, Mary Newman, posted a tweet on Twitter in which she said, "Palestinian families have a right to live in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood."
