Today, I was reminded that the nature park that I often explore is being inhabited by wild creatures. I came across a young wild snake and it looks like it is going in the direction of the neighborhood close by.
Although, I'm still puzzled about the specific name of this snake, my closest that I can guess (based on the search) is that it's either:
- Grass Snake (non-venomous)
- Garter Snake (non-venomous)
- Python (a young one & non-venomous)
At first, I thought that it's a python because of the shape of its head. But while I was going through some searches it appears to be either a grass snake or a garter snake. At this point, there is a lesser chance that it's a garter snake since that type of snake is regularly found in North and Central America.
Regardless, I think the most important thing that I learn is that it's non-venomous. It could still harm me but not to a point that it could end my life through a single bite.
The reason why I have to determine whether it's venomous or not is the fact that there could be many of them around my place. Also, I believe that it won't be the last time that I will come across this kind of snake. So, in the worst-case scenario that this snake bites me then I would know what to inform to the doctor that will treat me.
Oftentimes, the difficulty of treating someone that was bitten by a snake is the reality the victims don't even know what bit them.
Nice shots! I never have the opportunity to photograph any snakes, lizards etc ... they go away hiding too quickly!
