This picture was taken on the 25th July 2021 at around 6 a.m. Why so early?? It's because we planned to spend the whole weekend in south East of Mauritius Island; we had a camping trip. It was pleasant sunday morning; However, for the 1.2 million inhabitants of Mauritius, it turned out to a disaster, the worst environmental disaster in our history.

The Wakashio bulk carrier was making its way from China to Brazil, passing through the Indian Ocean. Unfortunately in the afternoon, it ran aground onto a coral reef, near the Ile aux Aigrettes island (island on the picture). A few days later, the oil spill began into the lagoon destroying the marine life and the life of the inhabitants.

I'll never forget this weekend!!!

Feel free to use photo as you so desire!!!

Thanking you for stopping by, watching and sharing.
Take care.

Best Regards.
