Ocimum gratissimum also know as Scent leaf in Nigeria, it's in the family of Lamiaceae.
In Nigeria, it is known as efinrin in Yoruba, nchanwu in Igbo and daidoya in Hausa. Nigerians generally call this plant; Scent leaf
Indians call this Scent leaf plant; ajeka, doshakleshi
Chinese call this plant wu mao ding xiang luo Le

Scent leaf plant leaf is native to Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroun, Madagascar, Southern Asia and so many other countries

Scent leaf is sweet smelling plant used for cooking especially pepper soup and other delicacies. This plant have alot of antibacterial and lavicidal which is used in treatment and prevention of diseases and infection

Nigerians love Scent leaf due to its sweet-smell, its aromatic taste and the flavor it adds to meals, especially in preparing pepper soup.

This Scent leaf plant have many medical benefits as in;

  • maintenance if the eyes
  • improve heart function and aid digestion
  • lower blood sugar
  • insect and mosquito repellent
  • treatment of fungal infection and diarrhea
  • promotes normal hair growth
  • helps in wine healing activity
  • food preservation
