The main problem faced by the government and related parties in maintaining the sustainability of the Ulu Masen area is dealing with the severe behavior of illegal logging, hunting of endangered animals and fauna and illegal mining activities.

Peut Sagoe and Kemiki Mountain

Some people must know about the two most exotic mountains in Geumpang. In the Ulu Masen Ecosystem especially in Geumpang there are 2 mountain peaks which are best known especially among Nature Lovers Organizations. The two peaks are Apui Peak (Mount Peut Sagoe) and Keumiki Peak (Mount Kemiki). Apui Peak has an altitude of 2780 meters sea level while Kemiki Peak has an altitude of 2800 meters sea level. These two mountains have several similarities and character differences. Among them are these two mountains dominated by shrub forests, tall grasses and savannas. In addition, these two mountains have a very exotic view when we are at the top with sunny weather. The difference is that Mount Peut Sagoe is an active volcano while kemiki mountain is a dormant volcano. In addition, the difference between the two is the hiking trail. Where the ascent of Apui Peak (Peut Sagoe Mountain) 4-5 days while Mount Kemiki 7-9 days

This diversity of fauna consists of Sumatran Tiger (Panthera Tigris Sondaica), Sumatran Rhinoceros (Dicerorhinus Sumatrensis), Sumatran Elephant (Elephas Maximus Sumatranus), Honey Bear (Helarctos Malayanus), Slow loris (Nycticebus Sumatranus), Sumatran Forester (Pongo abelli), Siamang (Symphalangus Syndactylus), Kedih (Presbytis Thomasi) and others

In the mountainous area there is also a very beautiful lake covering 3 ha. This lake is flanked by two mountains that add to the beautiful view there. Some climbers who have climbed the mountain say that the lake is Peut Sagoe's Ranukumbolo. Ranukumbolo is a gem lake located on Mount Semeru (the highest mountain in Java Island), East Java

That's what I can share stories related to Mount Peut Sago and Mount Kemiki. In addition to god's various creations that have various beauties, it should be our duty as human beings to maintain, care for, and preserve them. Nature is ours together. Save the Environtment....
