Amsterdam an alternative city of Europe
during these lockdown periods and now that travel has become a bit complicated
I remembered some of my previous trips
one of them was in the capital of the Netherlands... Amsterdam.
a quite alternative city that combines the modern and the traditional in perfect harmony.
Already from the airport you can take a direct train to the central train station of Amsterdam, of course you have to be careful as the Dutch train network is quite developed so that a wrong choice of train can even land you in another city
coming out of the central station and having a first contact with the city, you are impressed by the beautiful, unique canals and the many bicycles
Amsterdam is considered a very eco-friendly city and cycling is more than the norm,in fact there are so many that you have to be very careful due to the fact that they come from all directions
many tourists are eager to enjoy a bike ride in Amsterdam, but I suggest you don't do it if you are not so familiar with cycling in these conditions....many accidents can happen
In fact, in the centre of Amsterdam ... cycling and public transport (trams, ferries) are the ussual way to get around
The Dutch get a bit mad if they see you in a classic car in these small streets
electric cars and vehicles are considered a normal way of travelling and there are many electric chargers in public places.
In Amsterdam was the first time I saw mounted police officers
And the first time when i saw something like that
do you have any idea what really this is....?
the picture above shows a public place that people use to urinate
The city has a lot of tourists and the people there have some really drunken moments... so, because of that, the Dutch built these structures to prevent drunk people from urinating in every possible place they could find
now that we're done with the dirty work, let's move on to something characteristic that can be seen in various parts of the city
I refer to this unique logo that many tourists love to take some pictures of
I will continue with a couple of photos of the picturesque canals
in order to end this tribute with a night view of the main square...named "Dam square"
All photos have been taken by me with Nikon coolpix S3600
I hope you enjoyed my post and that I gave you some of the feeling through my photos
