A salad is only as delicious as its certain ingredients.
If we use super fresh, high-quality greens and veggies it’s so much easier to create an amazing salad and even without fancy toppings we can fully enjoy our raw dinner.
Here are 3 criteria that can help you to find the most delicious produce:
🥬 ORGANIC: Free of pesticides and herbicides, natural farming methods and sustainable processes - when buying organic we are a big step closer to high-quality veggies.
🍅 SEASONAL: Being out of the season means either you get produce that is not harvested in its prime time and lacks the perfect circumstances for it to grow into a nourishing, nutrient-dense, flavourful plant. Or it is imported what raises other concerns.
🥒 LOCAL: Imported produce often needed to travel a very long way until it lands onto your plate. It can loose its freshness very quickly or stays healthy looking due to chemical treatments which only simulate high-quality. Buying your produce locally brings you closer to the real food and also helps you to support your community.
So yes, a crisp, fresh look can be a great indicator for high-quality and great taste but nowadays nothing we can rely on when choosing our produce. If focusing on organic, seasonal and local fruits and veggies, chances are high that we get the best quality for creating mouth-watering salads.
