Hello fellow steemians, it is with great pleasure that I am posting here once again. It's a great atmosphere here in Ghana and I am here to share with you how work went today.
I am a lab scientist so I am mostly in the lab. If you find yourself in the lab, you are exposed to a lot of hazardous substances and at the same time, you are presented with the opportunity to learn a lot.
On this day, the task before us was to extract DNA from bacterial culture. It was going to be a tedious task because we are not used to extracting nucleic acids from bacteria. We are used to extracting them from viral samples, specifically for covid-19 testing.
I got to work at exactly 8:00 am, logged in my name, and went straight to the bacteriology lab. I got all my reagents together and called my other colleagues to join me while we go on the adventure together. It was fun actually since we were all kind of new to the whole process.
We made references to a lot of scientific research papers to make headway. After a long time of reading around and making research, it was time to start the whole process. We started the process at around 12:30 after we had gone for a break. We wanted enough energy to start it. After about 4hours, we were done with the process
The result was quite good even though it was a bit far from what we were expecting. Everyone was tired so we didn't even think of continuing it. It was past closing time so no one was willing to continue. We all agreed to continue the next day.
I got home and still wanted to go to the gym even though I was tired. I just got myself some food to eat, dressed up for the gym, and decided to lie down a little bit. Before I realized it, it was late evening. I went to take my bath, watched a movie, and put myself to sleep. I needed a massage but there was no one to do that for me.
