Does true love really exist?

Well, in this movie, Prince Akeem who is soon to become a king after the death of his father, King Jaffe Joffer is without a son. As per the tradition of the nation of Zamunda, there was the need for a son to ascend the throne.

King Akeem Joffer finds out he has an illegitimate son in the city of Queens, New York, and travels back to America to bring back his son, Lavelle Junson as the rightful heir of the throne.

Lavelle Junson is then betrothed to Bopoto Izzi, the daughter of General Izzi who is trying so hard to lay claim to the throne of Zamunda.
At first glance, Lavelle is intrigued by Bopoto's beauty and sexy dance moves. But is it love at first sight?

It has become a norm in our present society that royalty weds royalty. The rich tend to create an alliance with others of equal standings just to maintain the degree of prestige they already possess. People are influenced by family to associate with those of equal standings, regardless of and emotional attachments just for the benefit of gaining wealth or possessions.

Most relationships on such a basis do not last that long in reality. The ones that do are always full of mistrust and unfaithfulness
But there's one thing that overcomes all, True Love

Lavelle coincidentally falls for his royal groomer, Mirembe as she was the only one he could open up to freely.
He eventually finds out that his father, King Akeem faced the same ordeal but went against the tradition of Zamunda and traveled to Queens, New York to find his own bride.

Lavelle runs away with Mirembe back to Queens on the night of his ascension party to get married to her.
True love prevails here as Lavelle chooses love over royalty. Though his previous life as a commoner was nothing great to write about, he took the bold step to denounce his royal status for true love.

True love does exist as portrayed by Lavelle Junson. The heart wants what it wants and there no denial about that. It is easier to live with your soulmate than with someone you don't relate well with.
The world will be a better place once love takes preference over anything else. Just imagine a world with no greed, hatred, and abuse of power. How pleasing our lives would be.

In the end, Lavelle's engagement with Mirembe is accepted by the royal family and the people of Zamunda and made official.
