Can music improve learning?

I think everyone must have been taught a catchy learning phrase or his own adaptation of music by a teacher when they went to school. And we also tend to find that after listening to the adapted lyrics, we do remember them faster and more firmly than usual in this way, but why is that so?

Generally speaking, when it comes to learning, people tend to think of studying hard; when it comes to music, we can't help but associate it with those relaxing and cheerful rhythms. We originally thought that there was not much connection between these two areas, but with experience, people gradually discovered that the combination of learning and music often results in a 1+1 greater than 2.

Some studies have shown that the fluctuations of music can affect human memory neurons in the form of bioelectricity, causing the number of synapses on brain neurons to increase and axons to become thicker, thus speeding up the exchange of information in the brain and enhancing the ability to think, which means that music can help people absorb knowledge quickly and enhance their memory, as well as make their thinking and reflecting ability faster.

According to legend, in ancient times, people had very inconvenient ways to transmit information because of the underdeveloped information technology, so they would compose written poems into songs, thus making it easier for people to remember them, in order to achieve the purpose of oral transmission. This is why we often find poetry better to memorize than literary texts when we were in school, precisely because the sense of rhythm and rhyme it carries indirectly strengthens people's memory.

In addition, there is another advantage of music, that is, it can be used to shield people from outside distractions, so that people can focus on learning. In real life, when people study in a room with music, their attention is often raised to a new level: when they are seriously thinking about a problem, they do not notice the music flowing in their ears, which makes you fall into deep thinking and focus only on the sound in your head; only when you stop thinking do you suddenly hear the music. Repeating the above process in this way, we eventually find that studying in an environment with suitable background music not only gets you into the best shape quickly, but also is not tiring.

Although the music learning method is known as the super learning method, and its unique formula allows people's brains to enter the super brain energy realm and gain increased buffs in memory and learning, this is not necessarily the best for everyone. Just like some people are good at language and some are good at computing, there is no top learning method, only what works for you so you can get on the highway to high performance.
