Don't waste your time. Perhaps these actions will help save the gadget. Following are the steps you can immediately perform to save your smartphone.
Remove it from the water immediately.
Move the phone away from liquid as soon as possible. Obviously, the longer the gadget is in contact with water, the less likely it is to remain intact.
- Disconnect the device
Stop powering the phone by holding down the power button. This will reduce the likelihood of a short circuit.
Remove the battery (if you can)
If the device has a removable battery, remove it immediately without wasting time turning it off. Leave the phone unassembled.
If the battery is not removable, you can try to disassemble the smartphone using a thin piece of plastic (for example, a credit card ) and disconnect the battery power connector from the motherboard . If you are not sure if you can do this, do not risk it.
Remove the cover, bumper and other accessories
Liquid has probably also got into the case, without it the smartphone will dry faster.
Remove the SIM and SD card
Remove the SIM card and memory card if they were inside. This will help dry them and protect them from moisture that remains in the device.
Remove dirt
If your smartphone is covered in silt, sand, or food (you may have dropped it into a bowl of borscht), gently rinse off the dirt with clean distilled water to avoid corrosion. Do this under a thin stream - never place the device in a basin or sink.
Wipe your smartphone
Place the gadget on a dry horizontal surface and gently wipe the connectors and entire exposed surface of the device with a microfiber cloth or towel. Do not use paper , as particles of it may remain inside the case.
Let the phone dry
This will take at least 48 hours, preferably more. After about 24 hours, carefully position the phone so that it is in an upright position with the USB port facing downward so that residual liquid can drain through it. Do not jerk moisture out of the device.
The motherboard of a smartphone after being dried in rice.
Do not try to turn on the gadget until at least two days have passed. Otherwise, if even a particle of water remains in it, a short circuit is more than likely and all your efforts will be wasted.
Never connect a wet device to the mains. The reason is the same as in the previous paragraph. Wait 48 hours and only then try turning on and charging the phone.
Do not move the apparatus unnecessarily, do not press buttons or blow through it. This can cause water to spread all over the phone.
Do not use heaters or hair dryers to dry. Excessive heat can damage the device.
Don't put your phone in a bowl of rice. Contrary to popular myth, rice, buckwheat and other cereals will not help you get rid of the liquid in your smartphone. Moreover, if their small particles and husks get inside the device, they will only contribute to its failure.
If a dry phone does not turn on or does not work correctly, you will have to show it to a specialist. The technician will clean the device and, possibly, offer to replace the damaged parts.
Thanks for sharing such an informative post. I believe if these procedures are carefully carried out, such devices can be prevented from long-term damages
