This banknote came out before the dissolution of Yugoslavia. In 1992, Serbia and Montenegro abandoned socialism and adopted the name of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. The Kosovar guerrilla was a constant source of conflict in the new state. The UN became the guardian of the Kosovo territory in 1999 after bombing Belgrade.
In 2003, the country was renamed Serbia and Montenegro. Thus, the last political entity with the name of Yugoslavia disappeared.
Montenegro became independent in 2006 and, on February 17, 2008, Kosovo declared its independence from Serbia (partially recognized by the international community).
