This movie is a lot of fun to watch. Don't go in expecting the next great masterpiece of dialogue or deep thinking. It knows exactly what it is and that is why it is fantastic.
After the second viewing I was even more impressed with the special effects (once in a cheap theatre, second at home on my 65" 4k TV). Kong is the heart of this movie and it is very much more of a Kong movie than a Godzilla movie. There is many reasons for this but it mostly just comes down to the view of Godzilla being a "force of Nature" and Kong having very high intelligence.

Mechagodzilla is a welcome addition to this movie and is a great way for Kong and Godzilla to both end this film a victor of some sort. I'm really hoping that we can continue the Monsterverse.
I've kept this "review" simple for a reason, this movie is simple. And this is exactly what the world needs right now. There doesn't need to be some hidden agenda. There doesn't need to be in your face commentary in everything. This movie has been a success because of this.
8/10, perhaps higher after I watch it in Imax.
