Pencil Drawing of "Nagavalli the haunting beauty"

This was one of the tough as well as more time consuming pencil drawing of mine " Nagavalli ".

This art is based on Manichitrathazhu, an award-winning Malayalam movie This is the picture of Shobhana depicting Nagavalli which I have to draw the different phases according to the character.

Now I will make this more elaborate as to why I have selected this art. Moving to the story, the story is based on a tragic incident which took place in 19th century in a prominent Ezhava family at the famous Alummoottil Kottaram in Central Travancore.

As far as this story is concerned, it has been told like a true love story a decade back. The central character Ganga and Nakulan have moved into their ancestral mansion without paying any heed to the warnings of Nakulan's traditionally conservative uncle. Very soon they start to see supernatural happenings like there are multiple murder attempts on Nakulan and a young female called Alli living in the house. But the suspicions lie on the cousin of Nakulan, Sridevi who had become deeply depressed after her marriage.

Here, Nakulan’s sister and close friend and psychiatrist Dr. Sunny Joseph is called in to find the truth. He ends up finding out that Ganga is suffering from dissociative identity disorder (multiple personality disorder) and is to blame for the supernatural happenings. Her condition stems from some terrible situations of her past. The movie is really directed in horror mode.

The house where they are now staying was once the home of Shankaran Thampi a cruel landlord who brought a Bharatanatyam dancer Nagavalli from Thanjavur to live there. But on discovering she was in love with a dancer named Ramanathan who was living nearby Thampi withou any mercy killed her and in the memories of the accident, her vengeance was confined in a secret chamber (Thekkini). When we see the movie from that part the character has the face which I have drawn and posted above.

One day Ganga open the chamber without knowing and free the spirit of Nagavalli inside. As a result, she starts to act like Nagavalli at some points in her life. At the end of the story, Dr. Sunny attempts to free Ganga from this mental trance. This is the horror thriller and why I have elaborated this movie plot for you guys because there is one song in the climax where Nagavalli shows her real face. I have drawn the phases which she comes across in different angles. I wish all of you watched the movie at least once and see this drawing as Nagavalli will be haunting you every minute of your time.

Sorry to make this little drawing of mine elaborated with the movie but I think it is a necessity to make you aware that it is from the Movie Manichitrathazhu and it was later remaked as Apthamitra in Kannada , as Chandramukhi in Tamil ,as Rajmohol in Bengali, as Bhool Bhulaiyaa in Hindi.

I have completed this drawing in a week but I feel bad when I couldn't extend much more time. From this hectic schedule of my job, there is no free time available to draw a new one and start again.
But I will never give up, I am planning to draw more and more.
