Gifts are free will giving to people. When you give to someone, you give because you desire to give from your heart. Giving to others should not be with the intention of receiving back or receiving the measure you have given. Gifts should be given to others, especially when they don't ask for them, because we sometimes give because the person requests it.

Talking about gifts, I am one of those who gives gifts to people and I also love to be given too. I believe that gifts can be of substance (material item). For example, a television, car, book, shoes, clothes, food etc. Gifts can also be inform of words of comfort or encouragement or advice. And sometimes, it could be a rendering of help or assistance to others.

But for the context of this contest, I'd like to talk more about material gifts.

For me, I don't have any choice of gifts anyone should give me. Like I've mentioned above, it doesn't matter if you have given me a gift worth a thousand dollars or if it's moral support from your heart. I know some advice given to people can last a person for a lifetime, while material items may perish. So, I don't have a choice about any kind of gift anyone would want to give to me as long it is from the heart. Not the one that you'll discuss with people that it was through your gifts that I am surviving, or I'm alive.

Oh yes, gifts enhance relationships. I mean what is friendship or relationship without giving from the people involved? Gifts in relationships show that you value the relationship you have with the other party. It signifies love and respect. So, I support that gifts enhance relationships of any kind.

Oh yes, I have received lots of them. During my marriage, I received many gifts which I cherish so much but one of the gifts that gives me so much joy till today is the sewing machine my sisters gave me. That meant so much to me that whenever I see it, I keep thanking them.

Another gift I've received and love so much is a gift that was given to me by my colleague during one of the end-of-year parties. We exchanged gifts, so my male colleague gave me a food flask. Someone may think it is just a food flask? Yes, it is, but that meant so much to me. How could he have known that I needed that flask? I don't know.

Because I'd earlier asked my mother to give me that same food flask, but she said no. That she was using it to pack food for my dad. Meanwhile, she had three of those. So, when I got this gift from my colleague, it was as if I got the best of the best.

These are just a few of them, because I've been blessed to receive beautiful gifts from my friends, colleagues, neighbours and my family.
