Greetings to all my friends present in @incredible -India community and beyond. @sduttaskitchen has brought us together once again by giving us the platform to share that which we want between being famous and having a good name.

Looking at how nature made us as humans, there are seven (7) basic things we are all pursuing. These things are wealth, health, peace, love, popularity, and good name. However, if we look deep into the life of some people, we will notice from their attitude and way of life that they don't care about being famous but they make an impact in the life of the people around them. On the other hand, some people can go the extra mile to be famous not minding if they are making an impact or not. In this contest, I am given the option to choose which one I prefer between the 2. Hmm, be blessed as you read through my Choice.

How beautiful it would be for me to be both famous and at the same time have a good name to myself. Don't say I am greedy but, I just want the world to hear of me and I also want to build a name for myself. But I just have to choose one of the two.

I have been busy meditating and looking at life from different angles, and at some point, I asked myself what I would have to do with Name. How valuable it is to me? At least with fame, I have more chances of being wealthy and having a good life here on earth.

Funny enough, while I was still in the mix of viewing the importance of being famous, 3 thoughts stroked my mind. There are:

1. The scripture that said, "What would it benefit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul?"
2. A song that says

   “Must I go, and empty-handed,”
   Thus my dear Redeemer meet?
   Not one day of service give Him,
   Lay no trophy at His feet?

3. A statement that says " a good name is better than gold and silver.

After recalling all this, I began asking myself what I would be remembered for after I had left the earth. How many people would smile when they hear my name? What will the lord say to me if I appear before him? Hmm, there is a problem if, after all my years on earth, I fail to make an impact in the lives of the people around me. Although I want to be famous, I chose to be a blessing to the few people around me rather than just fame.

Let me tell you a story. There was a time when I wanted to travel to one of the states of Nigeria. On arriving at the motor park, one of the drivers called me and said" Ooh..., son of a good man, where are you traveling to?" I told him, and he said, your father is the simplest and the most humble person I have seen in my entire life. As such, because of your father, I'm not accepting a transport fee from you. Although I know my dad to be simple and very supportive of people around him, what that driver did was a testimony that my dad has built a good name for himself, and as his child, I benefited from the good name.

More to that, there was a king who died even before my dad was born. He was rich and very popular in the state. After he died, nobody could remember him for any impact he made on the lives of people. He is only remembered when people are talking about killings, rape, heartlessness, and mercy less rich men. Till date, his children hardly interact with other members of the community because of the life their father lived when he was here on earth.

From the two stories above, name has to do with the value you add to the people around you. You might not be known by many people, but the few people around you should be able to feel your impact. On the other hand, fame deals with the number of people that know you. There are a lot of people that the world knows based on how popular they are.

From my perspective, fame and name are crucial in life. When we talk about names, that's what we will be remembered for even after our existence. Even our children will benefit from it if we build a good name for ourself. More to that, you will be loved, cherished, valued, and repeated by all.

On the side of fame, oh..., how lovely it would be for the world to hear your name. The world will keep history of you even after life. Even the unborn kids will grow to hear of you just as we hear of Nelson Mandela today. With fame, you can go to places, open doors, and be recognized all over the globe.

The kind of life we choose is what determines if we will be famous or build a good name for ourselves. To build a good name, be professional in all you do. Help the people around you, show support, love, and cherish whosoever comes your way. To be famous, take responsibility, be a leader, join politics, or any field that the world loves to hear about.
