How often do you change your mobile phone?

It has been 3 years that I have been using my phone and I am contemplating if I should buy a new phone or wait for another one more year. My phone is working in perfect condition, so I am a bit confused if I should go ahead or not as the new one is quite expensive.

Some people have this craze of keeping in trend with the latest models of the mobile phones, specially the younger generation. Every year there are new models launched and the old get obsolete. Since years I have been a Samsung user. Samsung phones are good but expensive and they too keep coming up with new models very often which are upgraded and have better features then the previous one. So then point is that how often one needs to change their phone. The prices of the mobile phones are crazy high these days. I am getting lured to buy the new model. The price is so high that I am putting a thought if it's really worth it to buy or wait for another one more year.

Last year when iphone 13 got launched it was a craze in the market and here in muscat it was not even easily available. My Son too wanted it and I was looking out. I managed to get after a wait of over a month. Now iphone 14 is already in the market. The price of iphone is even more then the Samsung phones.
I feel that these companies should limit the models and come up with a new model probably once in 2 years. So many people I know who bought iphone 13 just a year ago now wants to buy iphone 14 and I feel it is such a waste of money. These phones cost over 1500$.

And trust me some people have this belief that having an updated mobile phone makes an impression in the business community. I totally fail to understand how. But he says that when he sits with his clients with the latest model of an iphone he has better confidence to talk to them and it gives a good image of him to the clients. Such are the crazy beliefs of people over this instrument.

Thankfully in my home there are no such crazy people. Last year when I got an iphone for my son that was after 5 years of him using his phone and that too last 6 months with a broken screen. When we invest such huge amounts in something there has to be a good use of it making the spent money worth it.
I personally believe that one should use their mobile phone for a minimum of 3 to 4 years. What do you say?

I bought my Samsung Galaxy Mega GT-i9205 in June 2014 and it´s still alive and well. Only problem is that it´s not compatible with a lot of newer apps, like banking apps, but so far, I manage.

Hats off to you. Honestly I would never be able to use it that long. Already 3 years and I am getting the itch...hehehe...but I think I will prolong it for 1 more year :-)

Nice to see a person like me. I like Lenovo products. My first smartphone was Lenovo K4. But I used it for only one year. I sold that mobile to buy a new launch of Lenovo K8 plus in 2017. Till now I have been using that mobile. Excellent mobile, worth the money. In between, I had thought about changing the mobile. But I didn't find a mobile in that quality. Even Lenovo stopped their mobile production, I am waiting for their update about the production.

That's also true, once you get used to it, you do not want to go through all the hassle again with the data transfer and customizing it again as per your ways.

exactly.

@nainaztengra ma'am, I also belong to the younger generation . But i don't have that habit. But there are some people who really need to buy a new mobile phone in the market.

That's very sensible of you @swetab97

I have been using my phone for almost two and a half years now. It's still working fine, so I don't think about changing it. But you are right many people have that habit. When they get a new model, they don't like the old phone anymore.

If the existing one is working fine then we can always extend and try to use as much as we can, though I do understand that the new models are very luring to buy with new features.

True, the newer brands are more of a luxury and less of a necessity. They just add one small new feature and then tempt you to buy it.

I am using my phone more than five years and in between I need to change some parts but it working fine. New generation are fond of new version and several companies using this to attract them. Nice post as usual.

Wow, 5 years is a long time in the mobile world where every phone becomes obsolete in a year's time. Kuddos to you

That is a good and a sensible attitude.
