This is my favorite time of the year. The rainy season has just begun. After those 3 to 4 months of scorching heat, this is the most looked forward to. As soon as the month of June sets in Mumbaikars start looking forward to rains. Landing in the city a day back, I received a warm welcome from nature. Yesterday there was a good rain shower in the morning, and it brightened up my mood. I love and enjoy rains. Specially the first few days when the season sets in, when it rains, the Earth gives out a beautiful fragrance. There is some magic that spreads out.
But there are times when the rains get messy, especially when it keeps raining heavily for a couple of days nonstop. Then some low line areas of the city get flooded up and there is traffic congestion and chaos, which I do not like.
On a rainy day, I love to be at home, reading my book and sipping my tea. Ahaa, it is the best feeling in the world. I live in a gated society and we have many open garden spaces in the society. During this time, there is extra greenery all around. The gardens look full, the trees bloom out, everything looks fresh and full of energy.
I sit at my balcony and enjoy the view, There is a beautiful tree with orange flowers, in this season the tree blooms up and looks so bright and fresh. I can keep looking at it for hours.
Within a few days some of the tree branches will start peaking in to my window, hence we had to make the grill because sometimes it damages the windows.
Mumbai is full of high rises. Some 20 years back we had an open view of the city skyline but now we can barely see anything. The good part of our place is we are on a hill and our buildings are not more than 3 floors, so we still manage to get some open views compared to buildings which are at ground level.
I love and enjoy these cozy moments spent in my space. It's just 1 week that I will be here and then back to Muscat in 50 degrees scorching heat. I am enjoying and making the most of my time at home.
