Steemit Engagement Challenge S9W5 : Are you ready to become an entrepreneur ?

The picture above shows me and my friends, manipulating our phones. While I make business calls, he does the work of receiving entries. What could this be? A job that would make me financially independent? Yes and prior to this, I'm an entrepreneur in the making. Anyone can become an entrepreneur. You don't necessarily have to own an establishment.

An entrepreneur is a person who first identifies an opportunity, start and manage the business, is innovative and creative, continuously learn and evolve to stay competitive and also assume associated risks which may come in. Entrepreneurs can be found in various sectors ranging from finance and technology to healthcare.

I can vividly remember when I was taught this topic as a course in high school. Entrepreneurial studies helped me see why becoming an entrepreneur even as a student is helpful instead of solely relying on white collar jobs. It's the independency that's a major characteristic here.

I'm very much ready to become an entrepreneur having drilled about what entrepreneurship entails. In fact, we'll be using 2 weeks plus to learn an entrepreneurial skill. Why am I so interested in becoming an entrepreneur as a student? The characteristics of an entrepreneur are very much part of my motivation to becoming an entrepreneur.

• Independence: Independence is a major characteristics of an entrepreneur. It provides an opportunity where you're independent instead of working for others and be dependent on monthly salary. Entrepreneurship makes you become your own Boss. You have right to set standards, goals, make decisions and shape your business according to your vision.

Steemit for example, is an entrepreneurial skill because it involves creativity and the financial incentives you're given makes you independent financially. You're working for yourself. You can choose what time to create contents, what goals to set and the likes of them.

• Innovative and creativity: This aspect of entrepreneurship motivates me a lot because you'll be open to bring new ideas, develop new skills that would be sacrosanct to your business. In steemit, creativity is very much essential as people learn new ideas and new ways of approaching things. Other entrepreneurial skills also make you creative in different aspects. For example in sewing, you're the dressmaker. You can be creative in your style of clothes which can be introduced as fashion in the world.

• Financial incentives: Is another main reason why I'm motivated to be an entrepreneur. There's no greater joy than working for your money and as well create meaningful impact. Those incentives that comes directly to you for a job well done cannot be overemphasized. You're in full control of your finances.

• Passion and the opportunity to create an impact to the world at large makes me choose to become an entrepreneur.

There are lot of things that characterize an entrepreneur. To be a successful entrepreneur, you must have the following.

• Have passion for whatever business you want to take up. If you don't have passion or interest in that business bor skill, when Challenges come, you won't be able to persevere or overcome them. There might be this Lackadaisical attitude in you which makes you uncommitted to what you're doing.

• Self-confidence, resilience and perseverance: Just take a look at the lady who broke the Guinness world record book of cooking for 100 hours on a stretch. What helped her? She was confidence in herself and that confidence helped her persevere. Even when thoughts of giving up came, she was resilient because it was her passion and her confidence was high.

• You must be hardworking and handle responsibilities to make your venture successful. A lazy man can't be a successful entrepreneur. The ethics of work says you must remain committed, dedicated and willing to put the necessary effort when needed.

• Networking: Entrepreneurs should build a strong network of relationships, partnerships and contact so as to enhance your business venture. And as an entrepreneur, learning never stops.. You must learn continually to be successful.

• Risk taking is also an essential part of being a successful entrepreneur.

Actually, I there are many businesses I'll love to start soonest because it's not good to stick your fingers in one thing. In as much as I'll love to create businesses, I'll also love to develop the entrepreneurial skills I have already which Is fashion designing and blogging on steemit. As a student, it's not been easy to combine both work and school although these work makes a whole lot of difference.

I've been well grounded on how to sew different types of clothes, attires and the likes of them, men exclusive. I wish to take this business to the peak once I'm done with school, coupled with what I'll be doing in future. I also need to develop and build my Steemit account as it has really given that independence every student dreams of.

The short story I'm about to tell is of my dad is was an entrepreneur since he started high school. His commitment and dedication to do this work of sewing men's attire earned him the respect of so many people. He is disciplined and detests all form of Lackadaisical attitude towards work. As a passion, he has modeled fashion designing to the eyes of many. There are some who would travel far distances just to give him their clothes to work on.

The characteristics he posseses as an entrepreneur makes me admire him everyday. He doesn't have to be dependent on salary to feed his family. He's in full control of him time and space. At around 7:30Am, he has left for work and he won't embark on sewing a cloth he knows he won't be able to deliver. No one has found fault in his sewing and they give him credit for delivering the clothes in time. I thought of renovating his shop this year which I'll do by God's grace.
