Warung Siamang Geurutee

On the way to Tapaktuan, South Aceh Regency, Aceh, my family and I stopped at Mount Geurutee, Aceh Jaya. The cause of this Geurutee is only 1 hour from Banda Aceh City.

We stopped at the Siamang stall at the top of Mount Geurutee, one of the mountains in Aceh Jaya Regency. The national road on the slopes of Mount Geurutee is one of the most extreme roads in Aceh.

Extreme is intended because, in addition to the road body, which is quite narrow for a national road's size, it is also flanked by the walls of Mount Geurutee and the ravine of the Indian Ocean. Drivers must be extra careful when driving vehicles on this track.

I was curious why this stall was called Warung Siamang. Isn't the gibbon one of the black-haired primates with gular sacs that live in Southeast Asia? It is not surprising that many gibbons live in Indonesia, including Aceh.

Likewise with Mount Geurutee. Many gibbons live on Mount Geurutee. This siamang often goes down to the stalls on the slopes of this mountain. Therefore, the owner of this stall named his stall Warung Siamang.

The stall owner has warned visitors that the standby will descend on the stall at any time. This is necessary so that visitors are prepared when the siamang comes or so that it does not disturb them while eating. However, some visitors are indeed waiting for the siamang to come down.

I was really looking forward to the arrival of Simang. However, when I arrived, it turned out that it was not yet time for Simang to descend. We had waited for up to an hour, but the Simang had not come down. Indeed, the weather is not friendly, which allows the weather not to fall.

However, the view from this stall is very pleasing to the eye and makes us relax while enjoying the cuisine offered. We enjoyed the beauty of Keuliwang Island in the middle of the Indian Ocean—the beautiful nature of Aceh.
