Dates with the Latin name Phoenix dactylifera L are plants that belong to the Arecaceae family. Historically, the date palm plant originated in Greece, but is mostly cultivated in the Middle East and is the main food source for many countries in the region. Dates are a type of fruit that can grow at any time of the year. But in general, dates are often harvested in autumn or early winter. In winter, dates are at their freshest.

For most people in Indonesia, dates have become a favorite fruit that is always sought after. This legit sweet fruit is highly sought after, especially during the fasting month. But for now it is very easy to get anywhere and anytime. Dates are very liked by the Prophet Muhammad and are often referred to as the fruit of the prophet. Dates are rich in nutrients that are beneficial for the body. The main content contained in dates are carbohydrates, especially sugar, namely sucrose and fructose which reach almost 70%. Dates also contain several other sources of nutrients, such as: protein, fiber, potassium, iron, magnesium, copper, manganese, vitamin B6, and vitamin K.

Besides that, dates are also rich in calcium, folate, and antioxidants such as phenolics, carotenes, avanoid, and anthocyanins. Because it contains complete nutrition, dates have many benefits for the body. Even when breaking the fast in the month of Ramadan, we are strongly encouraged to break the fast with dates. According to research from health experts, some of the benefits of dates are:

• Improve bone health
• Prevent diabetes risk
• Improve heart health
• Can prevent anemia
• Fight free radicals
• Maintain brain health, and
• Helps lose weight
