Hello everyone

I am excited to join today contest and share my experiences with vegetable farming. Even though I am not professional farmer my uncle is and I help him Whenever I visit our Village. Recently we grew watermelon on our farm. As you can see in the picture below our farm is quite large.

First Vegetable Cultivated:

The first vegetable I ever grew was chili. I start by choosing good seeds because they are very important for a good harvest. We prepared the soil by adding compost to make it rich. ee planted the seeds in rows with enough space between them to grow Well. We watered them regularly especially in the beginning. To keep the soil moist and free from weeds we put mulch around the plants. It was very exciting to see the chilies grow and finally harvest them. The bright red chilies looked beautiful on the green plant.

Purpose of Cultivation:

This time we focused on growing watermelons to sell. Growing watermelon need a lot of care and patience. We planted the seeds in sunny well drained soil spacing them about 6 feet apart so the vines could spread out. Watering them regularly was very important especially when the fruits started growing to make sure the watermelons were juicy and sweet. Last season we sold 100 watermelons at 120 PKR each which is equal to 2 STEEM. Selling our produce not only gives us money but also connect us with our community. People love our fresh homegrown watermelons and seeing them enjoy our Produce makes us very happy.

Feelings About Vegetable Farming:

Vegetable farming is very rewarding. Helping my uncle on the farm gives me great sense of accomplishment and a stronger connection to nature. The work is hard but satisfying. Watching plants grow and produce fruits is a joy. There are challenges like dealing with pest and bad weather. For example we had to fight off aphids on our chili plants using a mix of water and mild soap as natural pesticide. Overcoming these problems makes the harvest even more rewarding. The whole process from planting to harvesting teaches patience responsibility and the value of hard work.

Fertilizer Management:

We use organic fertilizers for our vegetable garden. we have cow at home so we use their manure fertilizer for our farm. This makes the soil rich and keeps our produce healthy and free from harmful chemical. We compost the cow manure before Using it to improve its nutrient and kill any germ. We spread the composted manure over the soil and mix it in before Planting. During the growing season we also use compost tea which is made by soaking compost in water to give the plants extra nutrient. Using organic fertilizer has greatly improved our soil quality leading to better yield and healthier plant.
