# Business Today # Life in Nigeria is increasingly getting harder due to the imposed cashless policies. This has made living very hard and prices of goods keeps increasing rapidly. Another problem is getting cash; this is because some part of the country have decided not to collect money through transfer. This set of people boldly declare that it is cash or nothing. So even even you have money in your bank, you are forced to first buy money(Naira) before proceeding to the market to get foodstuffs. ## The New normal ## Now, 1,000 naira is equivalent to 550. This is because you have to buy 1,000 with amount ranging 300 to 500. Sometimes it even getting the money needs some trekking to a location etc. ## The way forward ## Due to the fact that prices of foodstuffs is now double or triple. We (my siblings and I) decided to go to the farm and process garri.

Steps to making garri

1. Go to the farm and harvest the readied cassava.
2. Peel and wash the cassava.
3. Take to the factory for grinding and processing.
4. Fry the cassava and spread it to dry.
5. Pack it and it's ready
   

Being an Entrepreneur

The process takes 3-4 days from preparation to finish(final consumption). So after frying on Sunday, news came that price for a cup of garri has further increased. Previously it was 4 cups = 200, then it reduced to 3 cups = 200. Then 2 weeks ago, 2 cups =200 but this week, 1 cup = 150. I decided to sell some garri to use in buying other foodstuffs. And boom.. We make about $12. So it wasn't making for consumption rather the situation birth a new business.
