How I first got to know steemit and why I decided to join

I can remember vividly early this year, mid February. There was this guy I used to see in a business center that is close to where I stay. His name is @theopportunist.

I noticed that he was always there everyday. What really caught my attention is the fact that anytime I see him, he is always on his system trading.

So one day out of curiosity I decided to muster courage to talk to him. We spoke a little then we exchanged contact then I went my way.

Fast forward to March, while we were discussing at one point, I asked him if there's any platform online where I can earn that is legitimate and obviously paying. That's when he told me about Steemit and what the platform is all about.

He told me it is a social platform where users interact with each other and earn rewards in a cryptocurrecy called STEEM. Although I didn't understand what he said, but I decided to join, after all I was looking for an earning platform online. 😁😁

How Steemit and STEEM has changed my life

Steemit has really changed my life in some aspects, even though I haven't spent a lot of time on the platform. I have learnt a thing or two being on the platform.

The first is very obvious, that there are genuine platforms on the internet where someone can earn from. Before getting to know about Steemit I have been involved in so many platforms online which turned out to be fake or outright scams. Worst still I have paid a lot of money, only to later realize that my money just went down the drain.

These events have been a painful one because, you not only find out that you can't earn on a platform, but you also end up losing your money.

Secondly, I learnt to open up a little. As you can see Steemit is a social platform, this implies that you get to snap pictures about yourself and your environment and post on the platform. You also get to mingle with other people who are also on the platform.

Steemit is quite different because unlike other popular social platforms, you don't really get to meet or know people, everyone is out there doing their thing. But in Steemit you get to know people because you engage them on their posts and in their comments. And if you are a member of the messaging groups, you get to meet them personally. I think this is a great feature of Steemit.

Ordinarily I don't like taking pictures, not to talk of posting it especially online. But since I joined Steemit I have learnt to loosen up a bit.

Another thing I have learnt or I'm still learning is how to write a piece of article that is free from plagiarism. As you can see plagiarism is a very serious offense on this platform and I have come to recognized that. So when I write I try to be very conscious of plagiarism and also try to internalize what I'm writing so as to present it in a good way.

Similarly, I am beginning to learn how to present my idea accurately. Before now, I just put what come to mind in whatever way I can, but since being on this platform, I'm beginning to get better with presenting my idea.

Being on Steemit and earning in cryptocurrecy feel 'strange'. I haven't really gotten a grip on cryptocurrecy. As you would expect, the only cryptocurrecy I know about is Bitcoin. Now I'm learning about Steemit and earning in STEEM tokens.

In essence, I'm not just earning online, but I'm also earning in cryptocurrecy. Isn't it awesome?

Finally, before now, I used to be a little bit lazy, and this attitude has really made me behind in some things in life. But since joining Steemit, I have learnt to be agile and very active. By being active, I see myself being stimulated and gaining a lot of things.

One thing I used to struggle with is knowing certain things fundamentally. I usually just know things at surface level or at hear say. But these days I go deeper to dig out any real thing about a subject matter. This has helped me know more, thanks to Steemit.
